History

Historia

The origins of the vineyards in this area date back to Roman times. From the XV and XVI centuries, historical quotes can be found attesting that the Sierra de Salamanca was known for its excellent wines. During the nineteenth century, these lands experienced a strong growth becoming one of the economic pillars of the region.

During the fifties of the twentieth century, the cooperative wineries of this area were created, which had a prominent role in introducing new techniques and the conservation of the vineyard. At the end of the last century, the vineyard suffered a progressive abandonment, largely caused by the depopulation of the rural area, causing the gradual closure of the cooperative wineries.

In the last decade of the twentieth century, a change of paradigm was seen in the mountain viticulture.  Four modern warehouses were created and the last cooperative winery was renewed to produce high quality and low production wines.
